How is depression treated?
There are many treatments means for depression. Lifestyle changes can provide great relief and are more accessible. These changes can be done through exercise, keeping a strong social network, improving nutrition and sleep, and stress management. Psychotherapy or talk therapy can also be a very effective treatment for depression. Some topics that should be visited in therapy include relationships, overall negative thinking, and attempting to find the root of the problem. Lastly, there is medication management, which is not ideal for most individuals. This is because antidepressant medications only treat the surface issue and they do not actually cure the depression. The key to actually feeling better is seeking therapy and making positive changes in one’s life.
