Yes. Licensed counselors are available for you online. We use a HIPPA compliant and secure online service called Doxy.me It is easy and does not require you to download an app. You will be given a counselor specific web address. Go there at the time of your appointment and you will enter a virtual waiting room. Your counselor will start the session on their computer. Some things to know.
1. At this point, it seems that insurance companies are allowing online therapy to be billed and paid for at the same rate as in-person or face-to-face appointments. You can call to check ahead of time, but we can also do that for you.
2. It really is as effective as face-to-face counseling. I will admit I was a little leary of the whole online thing, but have found it to be very similar and just as effective as in-person counseling.
3. When you make an online counseling appointment you are expected to adhere to the office late cancelation policies. It is also expected that you will find a private place to conduct your session. Some people will go out to their car for privacy. This may be especially important if your family is home and private space is at a premium.
Your responses to all this will vary greatly. Some will experience high anxiety, others will feel hopeless and depressed and still, others will feel numbness. Know that you are not alone. Seek support and do not feed into a panic, sadness or increased numbness.
Our office is open. We are a low traffic office. We get it.
